Prestige Learners Showcased Their Talents!
By Phemelo Thulo
Prestige College Hammanskraal hosted the annual Grade 8 performing Arts recently in the school’s Auditorium. All 4 houses, namely, Yellow House, Red House, White House and the Green House have a competitive nature and that is what drives the atmosphere of the house plays.
During the month of May, learners got a chance to feed their inner competitive sides.
Hard work and dedication is what builds them up.Weeks before the house plays, each house worked on their pieces in an effort to come up with something that will wow the judges. Mr Leroux and Coach Sarina were the judges for that wonderful night and they did a wonderful job at choosing the winners. There were many prizes that were handed out that evening. Kamogelo mpheroane from the white house was awarded the best director and Masingita Motha from the Red House received a best script writer.
There were interesting themes this year and they were mainly based on TV series. The different houses expressed themselves through their work and it was wonderful to see how they captured the message they wanted to convey to the audience. Actors that were able to capture this beautifully were best supporting actors Samson Cader and Lehutjo Nkadimeng from the Yellow House .
This year’s reigning King and Queen for best actor and actress were Jordan Pym and Gontse Morake from the Red House and the White House. These two have proven that you can thrive even outside of your academic and athletic life. The red house gave an amazing performance and this resulted with them being crowned champions for the second year running.
