Science Expo learners explore and learn
A project that is both educational and adventurous is definitely one to look forward to; the Scifest Science Expo. During the science expo period last year, learners who participated in the project and received medals, either bronze, silver or gold had the opportunity to go to Grahamstown. This was a reward for the hardwork and effort which they put into their projects. The learners had the opportunity to go to the beach on the 08th-12th of March and were also involved in different experiments.
The fact that the trip was informative made it all fun. “I enjoyed the lazer show the most and all the experiments that were made by Russians,” said Harrison Montsho. What can be more fascinating than going to the beach after not being there for a long time or even going there for the first time? The learners had the time of their lives. “The laser show was challenging but challenges are good for us,” said Lesego Madise. Firstly a project has to be done at school. The project has to be effective enough to make a difference in order for it to make it to the University of Pretoria’s Science Expo competition. Then, it will have to obtain either a bronze, silver or gold and that is when one qualifies for the ultimate adventurous trip to Grahamstown.
This year’s team was accompanied by Mr and Mrs de Bryn and ma’am Liebenberg. Anyone can enter for the science expo. As long as a reasonable project is performed at school and all the requirements are met, then there’s nothing stopping you!
